Ol’ Man River – Mississippi

Als Ol’ Man River („Alter großer Fluss“) wird der wasserreichste und mächtigste Fluss der USA, der Mississippi River, umgangssprachlich bezeichnet. Insbesondere ab Cairo an der Mündung des Ohio River nennen ihn die Afro-Amerikaner Ol’ Man River. Neben dem Güterverkehr entwickelte sich mit den ab 1811 auf dem Fluss verkehrenden Schaufelraddampfern auch der Personenverkehr mit Riverboats und den Vergnügungs- und Unterhaltungsreisen mit Show Boats.
